Rainwater Harvesting and Best Practice Stormwater Management in the New Planning Code

Rainwater Harvesting Australia recently sent the following letter to the Minister for Environment and Water in South Australia and the Minister for Planning in South Australia. The letter calls for the retention of compulsory rainwater tanks and asks the Minister to clarify how best practice management is applied to the issues of stormwater management, water quality in local waterways and water efficiency in the new Planning and Design Code. Rainwater tanks provide all of these benefits and if they are no longer mandatory how will these issues be addressed? The letter also asks the Minister for Planning to clarify why there is a 12 month delay after occupation for the installation of rainwater tanks which appears to make it more expensive and less likely for permit required rainwater tanks to be installed.
